Nowadays it seems like you can find a 5k race to run every single day. For runners that is awesome. It can also be overwhelming when trying to select a race that stands out. I am a huge fan of hometown community races that keep it simple, but bring the fun and offer something for the entire family. The Ravenswood 5k has all of that and more, with a motto of “Its more than just a race, it’s an experience!”
Taking place in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois on April 28, 2019, the Ravenswood 5k allows out-of-towner’s to enjoy the downtown activities before and after the race. Check out the sites and sounds of Navy Pier, take a walk along the Chicago River, or enjoy the heights of the Willis Tower, commonly known as the Sears Tower.
Now back to the race, hosted by Ram Racing (https://ramraces.enmotive.com) the Ravenswood 5k offers both a Kids & 5k Run that takes place with a course through historic Ravenswood and Lincoln Square.
Another great aspect in my opinion is that the race promotes giving back to the community. Bring a food item or monetary donation on packet pick up day to help support the Ravenswood Community Services.
I’ve heard great things about the race and if I wasn’t running a marathon that weekend I would definitely be interested in taking a trip with the family to Chicago. So make sure to follow the updates posted on the race website or Facebook page!
