Guess what?!?! I am running my 9th marathon in Cary, NC in March at the Tobacco Road Marathon!  Excitement for this race is at an all time high as I’ve dedicated this race to be my target for a Boston Marathon qualifying time.  That means that for the next few months I will be putting in the miles and training to reach that goal.  So why this race???

The Tobacco Road Marathon dubs itself as fast, flat and fun, with up to 10% of its runners qualifying for the Boston Marathon.  The majority of the course is run American Tobacco Trail, which consists of crushed granite and impact absorbing.  A race held in March in North Carolina provides great racing weather in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s, which I absolutely love.  Another point of running this race is that I spent 3 years in this area during college, so going back will bring back some memories.

Course Highlights:

  • Full and Half Marathon run on the same course and on the American Tobacco Trail
  • Minimal hills and a downhill finish (YES!!!)
