Disclaimer: I received an entry into the Hot Chocolate 15k – Columbus as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review, find, and write race reviews! All opinions are my own.
Next week I will be running in my first Hot Chocolate Running Series Race in Columbus, Ohio. The race series coined as “America’s Sweetest Race” has been in existence since 2008, where the inaugural race was run through the city streets of Chicago, Illinois. Since that race a million race participants have enjoyed running, post race parties, and CHOCOLATE!!!
The series is put on by RAM Racing in cities across the nation, where each event consists of a 15k (9.3 miles) and 5k (3.1 miles) catering to runners of all levels . I will be taking on my first 15k distance on November 5, 2017 in the city of Columbus! I am excited about the running, however I think my mind will be filled with thoughts of chocolate as I run through the streets. I mean what post race party is filled with Hot Chocolate, Chocolate fondue’s and dippable (yep I made a new word) treats consisting of marshmallows??? The list of reasons I wanted to run this race go on and on, including that the Make-A-Wish foundation is the charity partner for the race series!
Race Course: The race course will have you traversing downtown Columbus while taking in all those city highlights. Aid stations and treat stations will be providing along the course.
Race Swag: Sick of those race t-shirts that find there way into the shelf in your closet? Well the Hot Chocolate Goodie Bag will have you sporting a 1/4 zip pullover to keep you warm and looking good! The swag continues during the race and at the post race party where the following items will be consumed: hot chocolate, Rice Crispy treats, Bananas, and various other treats all in a finishers mug!
Race Medal: The medals look good enough for one to consume, although definitely not recommended. Along with the medal this year the race series is including a city specific key chain to sport your achievement.
So if you haven’t had the opportunity to experience the Hot Chocolate Race Series there are still several races upcoming to register! Follow along next week as I will be documenting my experience running in my first Hot Chocolate 15k race!!!
