My Training Week (1/16 – 1/22)

Another week of Marathon training in the bags and lets just say this was one of those AHHHHAAA moments.  Everything seem to click and I felt good about following at training plan.  Bring on the mileage and lets make 2017 a year to remember.  Temperatures for the week were seasonally warm with a lot of precipitation, as in rain.  Sugar melts right?

Monday:  Distance run at an easy pace for 35 minutes.  Finished up with 6 x 100m strides.  Total 5.01 miles

Tuesday:  Intervals:  1.5 mile WU run, followed by 8 x 400m at interval pace, with 60 second easy jog.  Finished up with a 1.25 mile CD.  Total 5.03 miles  Intervals (400 m) Splits: 1:34, 1:41, 1:38, 1:38, 1:41, 1:45, 1:37, 1:39

Wednesday: Distance Run at an easy pace (8:20).  Total 3.8 miles

Thursday:  Rest Day (Sick)

Friday:  Run 1:  Distance Run (35 minutes) easy pace (8:19).  Total 4.2 miles  Run 2:  Distance Run 41 minutes at easy pace (8:13).  Total 5.0 miles

Saturday:  Long Run  WU 3 miles at easy pace, 6 miles at MP (8:00) and 3 miles CD pace.  Total 12.0 miles

Sunday:  Rest Day

Total Mileage:  35.04 miles

All in all a very good week for me.  Not in the sense of mileage, but how I felt during all of my runs.  Intervals were tough and I ended up cutting it short by two 400s, more over due to time than fatigue.  Even with getting sick mid-week, I was still able to fit in all my training runs which was a plus.  Looking to pick it up next week as my mileage is due to increase.  My disappointments for the week, is my staying at my easy pace which is calculated at 8:42 – 8:55.  I have a difficult time running that slow, but feel I am doing better, which in turn made for fresh feeling legs.

How did your training go during the week?

What are your thoughts (like/dislike) interval work?
